HIP Yoga: Health Introspection Postures

with Ann Harmon Mayes, RYT 200

Thursdays from 10:30 AM - 12:00

HIP Yoga creates and maintains wellness and balance in the body, mind and spirit on and off the yoga mat. It teaches us body awareness, emphasizes correct alignment and improves posture with Muscle Balancing and Hatha poses. We mindfully use Light-Weights to increase muscle tone, upper body strength and bone density (weights provided). HIP Yoga allows us to extend the practice to the office and home with Chair Yoga postures. It invites our mind and body to relax with Restorative Poses, breath work, centering meditations and yoga philosophy. Suitable for all.

Ann began her personal yoga practice in 1988. Lying in Savasana she heard the silent words, "you will be a yoga teacher"... She graduated from Into this World Yoga Teacher Training in 2008. She has certifications in Restorative Yoga as a Relax and Renew Trainer and in "Get Fit Where You Sit" Lakshmi Voelker Chair Yoga for home and office. Ann has received training and is experienced in yoga therapy and prenatal yoga. In 2009 she assisted renowned instructor Judith Lasater at her restorative yoga certification training. Ann is registered with Yoga Alliance and is a member of the Long Island Yoga Association. She is trained in Kripalu's Energy Balancing and certified in both Reiki and Integrated Energy Therapy levels I and II. Ann's prior career was a Dental Hygienist. She now enhances people's smiles through yoga!
